What to Do When a Form Won't Accept HEIC Photos
Key points
- Many forms accept only JPG or PNG
- Convert HEIC to JPG before uploading
- If large, compress further
If you see "Invalid file format" on upload, the iPhone photo being HEIC may be the cause.
Steps
- Use "Convert HEIC to JPG" to turn the photo into JPG.
- Upload the saved JPG to the form.
If there's a size limit
JPG can still be large. Use "Compress & Resize Images" to fit a limit such as 1 MB or 2 MB.
For photos of documents
If you're submitting photos of documents as a PDF, "Photos to PDF" can make the PDF directly.
Checks
- Is the extension .jpg or .jpeg?
- Does the file name contain full-width characters or symbols?
- Is the image orientation correct?
Tools that go well with this
- Compress & Resize Images: Make image files smaller, and resize them if you like.
- Photos to PDF: Combine several photos into one PDF in the order you choose. You can rotate, reorder and set a size limit.
- Convert Image Format (JPG, PNG, WebP): Convert images to JPG, PNG or WebP, several at once.
