How to Cut Away Unneeded Parts of a Photo (Documents and ID Photos)
Key points
- For documents, crop close to the four corners
- For portraits, consider space above the head and shoulders
- Be careful not to cut too much
Photos of documents
- In "Crop & Rotate Image", choose the photo.
- Bring the area right up to the four corners of the document.
- Make sure no extra background remains, then save.
Leave a tiny margin so the edges of the document aren't cut.
Portraits and ID photos
- If a ratio is specified, match it (e.g. 3:4)
- Leave some space above the head and include the shoulders
- Check that the face is centered
Notes
- Cropping can't be undone, so keep the original image.
- Check that important information (address, dates) isn't cut.
Checking
Open the saved image and check once more that no text at the edges is missing.
