Redacting the Same Place on Every Page: Headers, Footers and Name Fields
Key points
- Select the area on page 1
- Tap "Apply to all pages"
- Check that the position fits on each page
Information in the same position on every page, such as headers, footers and per-page name fields, can be blacked out all at once.
Steps
- Choose the PDF in Black Out (Redact) Parts of a PDF.
- On page 1, drag over the place you want to hide.
- Tap "Apply to all pages". The same black-out is added to every page.
- Use "›" to look at a few pages and check that the position fits.
- Tap "Black out and create PDF" and save.
Note: every page becomes an image
With this method every page gets a black-out, so every page becomes an image. Selecting and searching text no longer work. To redact only certain pages, select areas page by page.
When the position differs between pages
- Pages with a different orientation or size can end up misaligned.
- For a page that does not fit, show it, tap "Clear this page", and select again.
To redact the same place on only some pages
First use Extract or Delete PDF Pages to keep only the pages you need, then redact; "Apply to all pages" then works.
Use "Black Out (Redact) Parts of a PDF" (free)Tools that go well with this
- Convert a PDF to Grayscale (Black & White): Turn a color PDF into grayscale or pure black and white, ready for monochrome printing, copying or fax. Choose the resolution.
- Extract or Delete PDF Pages: Keep only the pages you need, or remove the pages you don't.
- Compress PDF: Shrink a PDF to fit under a size you choose, for upload limits.
