Checklist Before Sharing a PDF: Redaction, File Name, Pages and Size
Key points
- Check the content and pages
- Black out information you do not want shown
- Tidy the file name and size
Before sending a PDF, check the following items from the top.
1. Content and pages
- Does it contain only the pages you want to send? You can remove unnecessary pages with Extract or Delete PDF Pages.
- Are the orientation and order of the pages right? Rotate & Reorder PDF Pages can fix them.
2. Information you do not want shown
- Does it include information the other party does not need, such as addresses, numbers or names?
- If so, black it out with Black Out (Redact) Parts of a PDF.
- After redacting, check that the text cannot be selected.
3. Margins and appearance
- If the margins are too large, tidy them with Crop PDF Margins.
4. File name
- Does the file name contain unneeded personal information, such as your real name or date of birth?
- Give the original and the redacted PDF names you can tell apart.
5. Size
- Does the way you are sending it have a size limit? If it is large, make it smaller with Compress PDF.
6. Final check before sending
- Is the recipient right?
- Is the attached file the redacted one, and the right file?
Keep the original PDF for yourself instead of deleting it.
