PDFは、紙のサイズで作られているので、スマホで開くと、画面いっぱいに表示しても、文字が小さくなりがちです。原因の1つは、ページのまわりの余白です。

余白を削ると、何が変わるか

スマホは、ページ全体を画面の幅に合わせて表示します。余白が少なくなると、中身が画面の幅いっぱいに広がり、文字が大きく見えます。

向いている資料

余白が広い、大学の配布資料や論文
縦長のPDFを、横向きで読みたいとき
表やグラフが小さく見える資料

うまくいかないとき

ページ番号や欄外のメモまで切ってしまうときは、「四辺をmmで指定」にして、切る量を小さくします。
文字そのものを大きくしたいときは、拡大して読むか、元の資料のフォントサイズを上げます。

PDFs are made at paper size, so even when shown at full width on a phone, the text tends to be small. One cause is the margin around the page.

What changes when you trim

A phone fits the whole page to the screen width. With smaller margins, the content spreads across the full width and the text looks larger.

Recommended steps

Choose the PDF in Crop PDF Margins.
Choose "Same area on every page". If page sizes differ, the zoom changes every time you swipe, which makes it hard to read.
Set "Margin to keep" to "Small (3 mm)".
Crop, save, and open it on your phone to check.

If it does not work well

If page numbers or notes in the margin get cut off, use "Set each edge in mm" and cut less.
To enlarge the text itself, zoom in, or raise the font size in the original.
