How to Convert JPG to PNG and When It's Worth It
Key points
- Converting doesn't improve quality
- Use it when a place accepts only PNG
- Files tend to get larger
Steps
- In "Convert Image Format", choose the JPG image.
- Choose "PNG" as the target format.
- Tap "Convert" and save.
When it makes sense
- The recipient or software accepts only PNG
- You will edit it repeatedly (PNG doesn't degrade when re-saved)
When it doesn't
- You want better quality: information lost at the JPG stage doesn't come back
- You want a smaller file: PNG is often larger
Note
Converting JPG to PNG doesn't make the background transparent. For that you need another image editor.
