How to Make PNG Images Lighter by Converting Them to JPG
Key points
- Photo PNGs often shrink a lot as JPG
- Transparent areas turn white
- Text or diagram PNGs may show visible degradation
Screenshots and photos saved as PNG can get large.
Steps
- In "Convert Image Format", choose the PNG.
- Select "JPG" as the target format.
- Tap "Convert" and save.
Why it gets smaller
PNG saves without loss, which makes complex images like photos large. JPG removes information in ways that are hard to notice, so it ends up smaller.
Notes
- Transparent areas become white; logos with see-through backgrounds will look different.
- Slight blur may appear around text and thin lines.
- Keep the original PNG in case you need it.
