Reducing PDF Size by Cutting Pages
Key points
- Removing pages is the shortcut to a smaller file without losing quality
- Cut pages first, then compress if still large
- Protect the quality of important pages
Compression is not the only way to shrink a file. Cutting pages makes it smaller without reducing quality.
Review the pages first
- Blank pages
- Duplicate pages
- Material the recipient doesn't ask for (contents, notices and so on)
Steps
- In "Extract or Delete PDF Pages", delete the pages you don't need.
- Check the size of the saved PDF.
- If it is still over the limit, use "Compress PDF" with a size limit.
How to combine them
- Cut pages → quality stays as it was
- Compress → smaller file, but text can blur and can no longer be selected
Cutting pages first lets you use lighter compression.
Before submitting
Check that the text is readable and the needed pages remain.
