Margins and Borders When Combining Pages: Tips for Readability

Published: Oct 19, 2026 | Updated: Oct 19, 2026 | About (Japanese)

Key points
  • "Normal" margin is a safe choice
  • Add borders for slides or white-background documents
  • Less margin makes pages slightly larger

Margins and borders change readability a lot once pages are combined.

Margin

In Combine PDF Pages onto One Sheet, you can choose the outer margin from three levels.

When unsure, choose Normal.

Borders

Gaps between pages

A gap of about half the margin is placed between pages. With margin "None", the gap disappears and pages touch.

Order

Check on paper

Edges look different on screen and on paper. Print a single test page and check that nothing is cut off.

Use "Combine PDF Pages onto One Sheet (2-up, 4-up)" (free)
