Splitting a Large PDF So It Can Be Sent by Email
Key points
- Try compression first; split if still too large
- Split evenly, such as in halves
- Mark the subject as "1/2", "2/2"
Steps
- First try shrinking it with "Compress PDF".
- If that isn't enough, split with "Split PDF", for example in halves.
- For 20 pages, choose "Every N pages" and enter 10
- Send the parts in separate emails (or separate attachments).
Consideration for the recipient
- Write the subject like "Document (1/2)", "Document (2/2)"
- Say in the body that you are sending it in two emails
Note
Some recipients don't accept several files. In that case, fit it into one file by compressing or tidying pages.
Another way
A cloud share link also works, but check that the recipient allows it.
Use "Split PDF" (free)Tools that go well with this
- Extract or Delete PDF Pages: Keep only the pages you need, or remove the pages you don't.
- Merge PDFs: Combine several PDF files into one, in the order you choose.
- Compress PDF: Shrink a PDF to fit under a size you choose, for upload limits.
