How to use
- Tap "Choose a file" and select the file to encrypt (or a .pmk file to decrypt).
- Choose Encrypt or Decrypt and enter a password.
- Tap "Encrypt and save" (or "Decrypt and save") and save.
How it works
- Files are encrypted with AES-256-GCM, a widely used method. The key is derived from the password with PBKDF2.
- An encrypted file gets a ".pmk" extension. The original file name is stored inside.
- Only this tool can decrypt it. Other software cannot open it.
Notes
- If you forget the password, the file can never be opened again. Keep it somewhere safe.
- Use at least 8 characters. Longer is safer.
- When you share the file, send the password by a different route (such as a phone call).
